Ten Free Things To Do At Disney World

Posted By: Bette J

I know that a lot of people are starting to think of that vacation time. With the nice weather coming, you begin to day dream about those relaxing days somewhere else. Actually, anywhere is looking really good.

The family wants to go get away to a place that is fun and interesting. Then the ad for Disney World comes out of nowhere. Now there is a place of fun and adventure for the whole family. A few days away to a place that has everything for the family to enjoy.

Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Not a bad idea. Someone had told me of 10 FREE things to do at Disney World. Now days where does a person find things for free. I had written these things down for my list of things to do. Let me share my list with you.

The first thing to do is visit Downtown Disney. It cost nothing to walk through the little stores there.  If doing this in the daytime, make sure you cover your head due to the excess heat of the day. Keeping the sun off the face and head will be more comfortable. Be sure to check out the snoozing man made from Legos and also, check the fantastic magnets at Magnetron Magnetz. If you like trivia, then stop at the art of Disney store. They do a trivia quiz and if you get it right, you will win a prize.

The second thing you want to do is to watch the magic kingdom fireworks from the Grand Floridian or Polynesian beach. You can park the car at these resorts for while for free. Just mention the coffee shop to the guard if asked.

Third, you will want to ask guess services for time schedule for the free tour of the wilderness lodge.  Also, there is a Mickey hunt. Check for the time on that hunt.

Fourth, you will want to catch the time of the Electrical Water Pageant. This is a long line of barges that are transformed into a magical light show. It is short – just a few minutes long but is often the most overlooked treasures of Walt Disney World. It can be seen from the beaches of the Grand Floridian and Polynesian and the Fort Wilderness Marina and Beach.

Now on to the fifth one, you will want to walk through the  many miles of trails at Fort Wilderness, through pine and cypress woods. All free. You can hire bikes but to walk costs nothing.

The sixth item is best done in the evening.  Just take a stroll down the boardwalk. Usually, the streets are full of entertainment.

Now for number seven, you will want to stop by  the petting farm at Fort Wilderness. The farm is open 7 am to dusk and you can park for free during the day.

Number eight is to take the FREE garden tour at the Yacht & Beach Club Resort. You want to call guest services for times of the tour.

Now we have nine. Be sure to take the free lobby tour at  animal kingdom.

And number ten. Campfire sing-song and a movie. Each evening a campfire is held at Fort Wilderness (it is free to WDW Resort Guests) near the Meadow Trading Post. Take your own marshmallows to toast. The campfire is followed by a Disney cartoon feature shown on a large outdoor screen.— because #10 is only free to guests staying at a Disney World Hotel, I have included one more.

Now to eleven. You must take a boat ride from Dixie Landings to Downtown Disney – it’s especially nice at night. Then take a stroll round Downtown Disney and catch the boat back to your car at Dixie Landings.

There you have it. Ten FREE things to do at Disney World while on vacation with the family. Everyone will enjoy themselves and have a lot of good memories of their trip. Have a great time and always drive safely.
